Maldon, it's buildings and people

Through her paintings and photographs, the author takes you on a journey of Maldon's historic buildings and the people who occupied them. Over 200 of Maldon's buildings are grade-two listed properties. The book explores how the early settlers and its maritime connections influenced the shape of the town.

This tour around the streets of Maldon introduces buildings dating back to the 1300s and through the centuries to the present day.

The town lies at the head of this estuary where the two rivers, the Chelmer and Blackwater, meet before widening to the North Sea. Maeldune, its original name, means the hill at the crossroads or the cross on the hill.
